Poland offers better conditions for infertility treatment compared to many other European countries, according to the European Atlas of Infertility Treatment Policies. Patients in Poland can immediately start IVF procedures funded by public resources. This is not the case in all EU countries. For example, in Denmark, France, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, and Sweden, waiting lists can range from six to twelve months, while in Portugal and Spain, the wait can exceed a year.
Donor IVF in Poland
Patients seeking infertility treatment in Poland have access to intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in vitro fertilization. These procedures are available to heterosexual couples. Depending on medical indications, they may use their own gametes or opt for egg, sperm, or embryo donation. This accessibility benefits many couples, as not all countries offer such options; for instance, egg donation is not permitted in Germany. In Poland, donation is also fully anonymous. Additionally, clinics provide patients with the option of preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) for embryos, including PGT-A, PGT-SR, and PGT-M.
IVF and age limits
In Poland, there is no legally established upper age limit for patients undergoing IVF treatment. The decision is made by the doctor based on a medical interview, test results, and the overall health condition of the patients. This applies to private treatments. However, for publicly funded IVF programs, age limits have been set for both women and men.
IVF clinics in Poland – competitive pricing
Poland has extensive experience and high success rates in IVF treatment. At Bocian Clinics, an experienced team of doctors, embryologists, laboratory diagnosticians, and midwives ensures proper treatment procedures, including for international patients who can communicate with staff in English, German, Ukrainian, or Russian.
At Bocian Clinics, IVF is usually performed using the ICSI method, with access to a wide range of additional procedures to support fertilization. The total cost of IVF depends on the patient’s clinical situation, which influences the number of necessary laboratory tests, treatment methods, and the type and quantity of medications used. The cost of privately funded IVF – including consultations, stimulation monitoring, ovarian puncture, embryology procedures, and embryo transfer – starts at approximately €2,500 (excluding medication costs, which are determined individually). However, couples eligible for the government-funded IVF program in Poland do not bear the cost of in vitro fertilization.
The IVF refund program is available at eight Bocian Clinic locations: in Białystok, Gdańsk, Katowice, Lublin, Łódź, Poznań, Szczecin, and Warsaw.
