The Greatest Gift

Despite my treatment and regular ovulation, I still wasn’t getting pregnant. My husband increasingly began to wonder whether the problem might be on his side, particularly because he had had undescended testicles as a child. Without hesitation, he booked a semen analysis at Klinika Bocian in Szczecin. And that was where our journey really began… The results showed reduced semen parameters and sperm morphology with 0% normal forms.

At first, we were devastated because it felt like the end of the world. I still remember the fear in my husband’s eyes that we might never become parents. Fortunately, at the clinic we met Dr Bączkowski, who gave us hope from our very first appointment, reassuring us that the situation was not as bad as we feared and that we could get through it. He first introduced medication for both me and my husband. The parameters improved, except for the morphology, which ultimately never increased.

After more than a year of unsuccessful attempts to conceive naturally, Dr Bączkowski suggested trying IVF. Around that time, IVF funding became available, so we didn’t have to think twice. Our first attempt was unsuccessful – the embryo transfer did not result in pregnancy, and the remaining embryos did not survive long enough to be frozen. I remember Dr Bączkowski’s surprise, as he had been hopeful that everything would go smoothly for us. But that didn’t stop us… He quickly knew what to do to give the next cycle a better chance of success – and it worked.

We obtained three beautiful embryos. The first transfer was successful, and the other two are still waiting for us. Today, we have our beautiful, healthy, long-awaited son. We are incredibly grateful to Dr Bączkowski, the embryologists, and the entire team at Klinika Bocian in Szczecin for making our miracle possible.
