Long Years of Fighting

Six years ago, we got married. Since we were already in our thirties, we immediately started trying for a baby. It wasn’t long before a pregnancy test showed those two precious lines, and we were overjoyed. Unfortunately, our happiness lasted for only a week.

I ended up in hospital, where I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy, and the decision was made to remove one of my fallopian tubes. That was when our hope began to fade and the long years of a very real struggle began.

We always believed that our time would eventually come. But as the years passed, that certainty and faith slowly began to disappear. Everyone around us was having children… their first, second and third… For a long time, I felt jealous, cried and struggled with my emotions. When would it finally be my turn?

Two and a half years later, I had another ectopic pregnancy and lost my second fallopian tube. I felt completely lost. That was when we decided to try IVF.

I had found Klinika Bocian online, but at first I decided not to travel to Poland. I thought that surely we could get the help we needed closer to home.

I was wrong.

The decision was made to transfer two embryos that were not of the highest quality. One of them implanted, but after some time it stopped developing. We had two choices: give up and fall into even deeper despair, or keep fighting.

We decided to take a break for a while.

I signed up for fitness classes and joined a gym, bought a pair of running shoes, and together my husband and I started training for a half marathon. In six months, I lost 15 kg and my husband lost 5 kg. During our first race in Riga, there was also a couple running with a stroller – and inside were twin girls. That was when I asked God: “Please, bless us with children! I promise that one day we will run a half marathon with them.”

A year later, we decided to travel to Klinika Bocian in Białystok to see Dr Bartosz Pietrzycki. His optimism, sense of humor and warm smile always filled us with confidence and made us believe that everything would work out.

And it did!

We had five embryos, two of which were transferred. And today, we have two wonderful little ones – Wowa and Wiera, our five-month-old miracles.

And we want more! So we will be coming back to Klinika Bocian for more.
