I Had a Dream

Our story began in 2015. It was the second marriage for both me and my husband. We got married in 2014. We already had children from our previous relationships – I had a daughter and my husband had a son.

I Had a Dream

A year after our wedding, we started planning to have a baby together. My husband’s child from his previous relationship had been conceived through IVF, so we didn’t want to waste any time and began looking for a clinic that could help us. My gynecologist recommended a clinic in Poland, in Białystok. I thought about it for a long time but eventually decided to seek help at a clinic in Belarus.

I was worried about the language barrier, and my husband agreed with my decision. In 2016, we went to a clinic in Minsk. After undergoing tests and consulting a doctor, we were diagnosed with infertility due to male factor, while I was also found to have uterine fibroids. We had no chance of conceiving naturally.

And so began our journey towards making our dream come true. Every day, I dreamed of seeing my belly grow and waiting for the moment when I would finally meet my baby. That time felt like an eternity. Unfortunately, our attempt was unsuccessful. I was devastated. Another attempt was out of the question. All my dreams had been shattered, and I felt completely empty inside. Every day, I thought that perhaps I didn’t deserve the joy of becoming a mother again…

Some time passed, and my husband began talking about trying again, but I refused. I was convinced that another attempt would also fail, so I ended the conversation and was even afraid to think about it.

But then something incredible happened.

I had a dream.

In that dream, I saw myself with a little boy. He looked straight into my eyes, and there was something truly special about that moment.

The next morning, I didn’t say a word about it to my husband. I simply started searching online for a clinic in Poland. I read patients’ stories, watched videos and learned about the doctors. That was when I realized that the dream of becoming a mother was still very much alive inside me. I wanted it more than anything else.

When my husband returned from a business trip, I told him about my decision. I said, “We’re going to Poland.” He couldn’t believe it. That evening, I filled out the form on the clinic’s website. Later, the clinic called me, and we made an appointment with Dr Mrugacz.

Our dream was beginning to come true.

On February 5, 2018, we finally had our long-awaited appointment with Dr Mrugacz. The moment I walked into Klinika Bocian, I knew: this was our last stop.

Our chances were extremely slim. I had only one embryo to transfer, and becoming a mother seemed almost impossible. I tried not to think about it. All I could see in my mind was the look in the little boy’s eyes from my dream.

Then came the day of the embryo transfer. I had never experienced so many emotions in my life. On our way home, I kept seeing storks everywhere. I even told my husband how incredible it was and that I was 100% certain we were bringing our little baby home with us. I dreamed of having a son and couldn’t think about anything else…

We decided not to take a pregnancy test until 14 days had passed and simply wait. But not even five days later, I started feeling nauseous and dizzy. At first, I thought I must have eaten something bad because surely it was far too early to know.

Unable to keep my promise, I bought a pregnancy test.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw two lines.

My heart was bursting with happiness. I called my husband and cried tears of joy. At first, he thought something terrible had happened. I couldn’t speak through my tears, but eventually I managed to pull myself together and say: “Misha, we did it…”

There was silence on the other end of the line, and then our call disconnected. My husband didn’t call back until that evening… He was crying. He simply couldn’t believe that our dream was finally beginning to come true.

Thirty-six weeks later, our wonderful little baby was born. His name is Roman, and he looks at me exactly the same way that little boy looked at me in my dream.

Being parents is the greatest thing in the world.

Never give up. Believe in your dream. Klinika Bocian in Poland is a place where doctors make miracles happen. Thank you for the love you show your patients, for giving us faith and hope, and for the joy and happiness you bring into people’s lives.

There is only one thing I can say:

“Believe in miracles and believe that dreams really do come true.”
